Here’s what you missed at January’s Say Wha?! Readings of Deliciously Rotten Writing show
I covered my favourite childhood nightmare book Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews, inspired by the Lifetime made for TV movie that reached more than 6.1 million viewers when it aired. I read my favourite part of the book, the inciting incident, when we find out that the father is dead because of a car crash where his car got hit, then something fell on the car, it rolled, got hit by another car, rolled again and caught on fire. Because a simple car crash just wasn’t enough.
Daniel-Ryan Spaulding was in Vancouver for a brief moment, back from several years in Europe where he’s been KILLING IT in the stand-up circuit. He wowed the audience by releasing his inner sassy beeatch with a reading of Star Jones’ “You Have to Stand For Something or You’ll Fall For Anything.”
Gary Jones read from “Tarzan and the Ant Men” where we learned about Tarzan’s many erections.
Taz Van Rassel actually read a book this time (he usually improvises it) and shared some saucy parts from “A Hard Days Knight” by Ted Mark who also published the following titles: “The Man From O.R.G.Y.”, and “I Was a Teeny-Bopper for the CIA.”
