This week the WestEnder did a cover story on their favorite local funny people. Do you recognize someone? Yup, that’s me in image #2.
I don’t know who I made out with to get on this list but I’m sure glad I did. Truly, I’m honoured to be on this list. Especially since this is the first year I’ve begun to embrace the label ‘comedian.’ Comedic storyteller, humourist, funny person maybe, but comedian? Nah, I’m just silly.
This year I’ve had the good fortune of bringing on some very funny people on my show Say Wha?! – many people I feel are better joke writers and comedic performers than I am. I feel that this honour is partially due to their work and my association with them. (Number 4, 8, and 9 have already been on the show and 1 will be on it in September.)
Thanks so much to the WestEnder for being amused by my silliness, my wacky ideas and love of bad writing. I was once told by a friend to (essentially) ‘stop being silly and get a career.’ At the time that statement hurt me deeply, but now I’ve realized that embracing my silliness is what my career is all about; be it through my Teen Angst Nights, Dance Dance Party Party, Improv or Say Wha?! My goal as an ‘artist’ is to facilitate fun and to teach people by example not take themselves so seriously.
Sure, I still worry about how I’m going to pay my rent or if everything is going to work out for me in the long run, but for now, I’m loving life, performing and making people laugh.
I’m thrilled to be included in this group of extremely talented and dedicated Vancouver comics … according to the WestEnder.

That is awesome, Sara. Congrats! You just keep on making out with people. Crap, you should have made out with John Cleese when we saw him!
Yup, we should have pounced when we had the chance. Next time!
