Latitude Festival July 17-20

Only days away… LATITUDE!

I’m writing from London and so excited to be here and to be performing at the Latitude Festival this weekend! If you were lucky enough to grab one of the now sold out tickets I encourage you to bring your Teen Angst down to the Poetry Arena for the following times of Teen Angst:

Friday  15:30- 16:00

Saturday   15:00- 15:40

Sunday  19:40- 20:10

What’s Teen Angst?

Somewhere in the back of your closet gathering dust and turning yellow with age is comedic gold. Those old journals, poems, and essays you wrote as a teenager when you thought you could do no wrong, would probably make you cringe at your former feelings if you were to read them today. Imagine sharing that shame in front of an audience. That’s exactly what Sara Bynoe the “Teen Angst Queen” is going to encourage you to do at the poetry arena of the Latitude Festival.
“Teen Angst” is an open mic comedic reading series where everyday people read from their embarrassing old journals, poems, songs, essays (and more).
So, get digging through your old notebooks and find some gems!
You can share anything (poetry, songs, letters, journals, diaries, essays, stories, plays, lists, etc) so long as it follows these rules:
1- The work must be your own.
2- You must have written it between the ages of 10-19.
3- It’s best if the work is at least 4 years old.
4- If you cringe while reading it- it’s worth sharing! The more embarrassing the better!

A note on the POETRY ARENA:

Showcasing the very best in contemporary performance poets, The Poetry Arena was hugely popular last year, changing many people’s perceptions as to how poetry readings could be. Comedy sketches alongside Hip Hop, slam poets, raconteurs, spoken word, lyricism, storytelling, rappers and much much more made this tent a roaring success for punters and performers alike. So much so that some of the funniest, satirical, hard-hitting, absurd, bizarre, and witty poets are returning for this year’s event.
